Business Continuity Statement – COVID-19
18 March 2020
EA Technology would like to thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 outbreak across the world.
We recognise that many of our customers play a key role in delivering and maintaining key national infrastructure and we are committed to continuing to operate as near a normal service as possible in these extraordinary times. In addition to our standard working practices, we are taking appropriate steps to mitigate any risks to our employees, customers, suppliers, contractors and the public.
EA Technology UK offices are following the guidelines of the UK government in full regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.
These steps include:
- Unless absolutely necessary, employees are working from home. This accounts for some 75% of our UK workforce
- Where employees are required to leave home to undertake their work activities, we will continue to do this if strict hygiene and social distancing precautions can be maintained. Risk assessments have been completed and control measures implemented to reduce the likelihood of virus transmission in the workplace. We are working closely with customers to ensure that hygiene and distancing controls can be maintained for all contracted work
- Non-essential business travel and the use of public transport for business activities have been stopped
- We are not accepting visitors to our UK offices
In addition, we have several management interventions to keep people healthy and deliver on our commitments to customers.
Where people absolutely cannot work from home, we are complying with hygiene and social distancing guidelines and have restricted access to labs and production spaces. We are limiting proximity to others by controlling numbers in these workspaces by splitting teams.
EA Technology holds a minimum of three months of stock of its main product lines to satisfy forecasted demand.
There have been some recent shortfalls in expected inbound deliveries as a result of the earlier restrictions imposed in China and the situation is now improving. Our UK supply chain remains robust at this current time.
We are already working with those customers likely to be affected by shortfalls to minimise any impacts. We are in regular and frequent contact with our suppliers to determine the likely effect on planned shipments over the coming weeks and months.
Our logistics team is continuing to fulfil and despatch orders in the UK and internationally.
We are continuing to deliver as much contracted work as we are able while complying with national and local restrictions. We are focusing our efforts on supporting our customers with their key priorities.
Our consultancy and software teams are working at home to reduce the likelihood of virus transmission. Some less critical activities may be delayed by a few weeks as we prioritise during the restrictions and we are working with customers to minimise inconvenience.
Specific risk assessments for our service activities have been completed and are under frequent review. We are committed to implementing the current government recommendations regarding COVID-19. Accommodation closures will impact the delivery of specific projects and again we are working with customers to identify appropriate mitigations.
Our Monitoring services team are working from home and operating a normal service. Forensics and oil diagnostics are open for business, providing insights on condition and faults. We have split team plans in place and adapted where necessary to keep our labs open and functioning.
We have rescheduled our short course programme for the coming weeks and will be offering delegates alternative dates later in the year.
We are working with customers directly to agree on the ongoing delivery of bespoke, managed and qualification programmes.
We are also offering distance learning options which can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.
The uncertainty of the COVID-19 outbreak presents some planning challenges and we continue to monitor the UK government advice and change our approaches where advised.
Please rest assured that we are operating as near business as usual as we are able, and we will be happy to speak to you regarding any way in which we can help.
