Executive Director

Peter Berry is the Executive Director of Electricity Engineers' Association New Zealand (EEA).

Peter joined the industry in 1986 as the Executive Officer for the Electricity Supply Association of NZ and has been actively involved in the reform of the NZ electricity supply industry from its beginnings in 1987. In 1993, he was appointed Executive Director of the EEA and has refocused the organisation to meet the needs of its members in a changing environment.

Previously, Peter held positions within the University of Waikato, the NZ Army (Royal New Zealand Engineers), the Ministry of Civil Defence, and a leading NZ market research company.

Educated at Waikato University and Victoria University, he has two Master's Degrees and a post-graduate diploma in business management. He is a Member of the Institute of Directors in NZ and has held a number of directorships. He is a founding member of the Electricity Supply Industry Training Organisation (ESITO) and the Electric Power Engineering Centre at the University of Canterbury.

Head of Innovation Delivery

Ian Cooper heads EA Technology’s Innovation Delivery team at the headquarters, delivering improvements in network modelling and self-service connections to support the Net Zero transition.

Previously, Ian was Innovation Lead at UK Power Networks overseeing the innovation pipeline for one of the smartest utilities in the world and chaired ENA UK national innovation managers working group. 

Ian is a Chartered Engineer with a Master's degree in electromechanical engineering from University of Southampton.

Head of Future Networks

Yogendra is leading the future networks stream at EA Technology Australia.

With over 20 years in planning and delivering innovative network and non-network solutions for leading electricity transmission and distribution (T&D) networks across Australia, he has experience as a professional engineer, manager and senior manager. 

Having strong expertise in network asset management and the integration of distributed energy resources (DER) for efficient network support, he has taken on big ticket projects that drive energy transformation and as part of it, developed strategies and programs for implementation.

Outside of leading the future networks team at EA Technology, Yogendra is a Chartered Engineer, fellow member of IEAust and a senior member at IEEE. He also holds both a doctorate and bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (India).

Yogendra has actively represented on various industry forums such CIGRE panels, benchmarking, DER Directorate (CEC), ENA Committee (ASTP), DEIP EV Standards Taskforce (AEMO) and others.
