2025

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has been awarded a certificate of conformance against the requirements of the newly improved ISO 55001:2024 standard, which is a globally recognized standard for asset management systems.

The certification was issued by EA Technology, under the Institute of Asset Management’s (IAM) Endorsed Assessor Scheme. This award will make NYPA one of the first American Utility companies to be certified against the new version of the ISO55001 standard.

EA Technology has previously assessed NYPA’s asset management system which covers their generation and transmission assets in 2019 and 2022 against the ISO55001:2014 standard.

NYPA’s path to gaining their ISO55001 certifications began following the release of the organization’s Strategic Plan in 2014, which identified asset management as a key priority. EA Technology has had the pleasure of witnessing NYPA’s asset management system continually improve on their journey to receiving this latest ISO55001 certificate of conformance.

This recertification confirms NYPA’s asset management system is designed to deliver value, and highlights their commitment to New York’s climate and energy goals.

In achieving an ISO 55001:2024 certificate of conformance, NYPA can gain several other operational advantages, including:

  • Improved risk management
  • Easy integration with other management systems such as Environmental, Health and Safety etc.
  • Increased confidence from investors and stakeholders
  • Reduced operational costs
  • Clear standards for working with subcontractors
  • Enhanced workplace safety
