Review of Medium Voltage Asset Failure

EA Technology LTD is a UK based company specializing in the condition assessment of MV electrical assets. In support of this, EA technology has an extensive forensic investigation lab where they have performed countless investigations over the past 50 years.

This paper analyses a subset of the forensic investigations that EA Technology has performed on failed cables and components to determine failure mechanisms and set recommendations for similar system components. This analysis can provide insights into fault mechanism,
highlight other at-risk assets, and recommend asset management strategies to reduce future risk of failure.

From these reports, we try to determine two main things: proximate cause and ultimate cause of asset failure.
