Commercial Director

Mark Sprawson is an internationally recognised thought leader in the drive towards lower emission, lower cost, higher security electricity networks. His engineering background ensures he provides clients with long term value in building strategies and integrating innovation into business as usual.

Mark is the Commercial Director of EA Technology’s Consultancy Insights business, leading a team of approximately 50 professionals. Its aim is to support the strategic choices for energy network customers through its consultancy services and embedded software platforms, with core offerings related to quantifying and reducing investment uncertainty for power assets, improving network resilience, addressing future demands and assisting with the transition to Distribution System Operator roles in a reformed energy marketplace.

Over his 15 years in the UK electricity industry, Mark has pioneered some of the work in techno-economic modelling; demonstrating the value of innovation in a fast-changing world and has played a key role in delivering flagship projects across the world, including in the UK, Australia and Singapore.

Head of Asset Investment Management

Joanne is a principal consultant and Head of Asset Investment Management at EA Technology with over 20 years of experience working with asset management solutions. With a background in data modelling and management, she has worked with over 60 electricity network organisations across the globe helping them get the most from their asset data by turning it into health, performance, consequences of failure and risk. From this base modelling she then guides customers through the process to predict future performance and the optimisation of asset investments. Joanne has led a diverse range of projects from consultancy works through to fully integrated holistic software solutions. She has led many developments within asset modelling including short, medium, and long-term investment scenarios, asset result reporting and data evaluation and analysis mechanisms. Most recently, she led the implementation of the Common Network Asset Indices Methodology (CNAIM) version 2.0 for Great Britain’s distribution network operators.

Head of Asset Management & Power Systems Studies

Andrew is a Fellow of the IET with over 40 years’ experience in the electrical utility sector. He has a large breadth of knowledge and experience specialising in Overhead Power Lines, Asset Management, ISO 55000 Implementation/Audit Assessments, and Electrical Safety Rules.

AIM Insights Manager

Dawn is the Principal Consultant for the Asset Investment Management (AIM) Insights team within EA Technology. The team helps to support the strategic choices for energy network customers through consultancy services and embedded software platforms, with core offerings related to quantifying & reducing investment uncertainty for power assets. With over 20 years of experience within asset management Dawn has developed a deep understanding of electrical assets at all voltage levels, through a career that has included working in areas such as cable fault location, inspection, maintenance and testing of distribution switchgear and transformers, and failure investigation of electrical equipment. Recent experience includes leading the delivery of large Asset Investment Management projects for transmission and distribution assets, to clients in the UK and world-wide.Dawn has been involved in the implementation of Common Network Asset Indices Methodology (CNAIM) and Transmission Network Output Measures (TNOMS) models in the UK and is a member of IEC Technical Committee 123: Management of Network Assets in Power Systems.

Lead/Principal Consultant

David is an electrical engineer and project manager with over 30 years experience in the electricity distribution industry. In recent times, he admits to becoming marginally obsessed with the design, performance and future of LV networks, and the customers connected to them. He get satisfaction from producing actionable insights from Network Data and instrumentation, using a traditional form of AI (i.e., Actual Intelligence).

Lead/Principal Consultant

Andrew is a Principal Consultant for the Smart Interventions team which contains around 50 energy professionals. He has over 25 years in the UK electricity industry, joining EA Technology in 2006 following roles in the Technical and Asset Management sections of a UK DNO and at the Electricity Association and Energy Networks Association. Through an early career within the Technical Policy and Asset Management functions of a DNO, Andrew has built a core knowledge and capability in policy development and delivery in the electricity industry. This has been through a detailed understanding of the underlying technical issues associated with network operation. This early part of his career included the development of Protection and Earthing policies and the application of Risk based Decision Making to support asset investment proposals. Through his role within the ENA he led the development of a number of national industry documents, covering a wide range of topic areas and was active in a number of international standards working groups in representing the UK in the preparation and revision of these standards. This detailed knowledge in policy and international standards supports his current role within EA Technology delivering key advice in the delivery of compliant HV systems and development and implementation of policy.

Head of Consultancy Sales

Tony is a Principal Consultant with electrical network knowledge and experience gathered since he started work as a trainee electrical engineer in the utility sector in 1980. His competency spans the full spectrum of activities associated with design, construction and effective operation of networks. In addition, he has asset management experience from both a utility business manager and ISO55000 assessor perspective. He is a trained lead auditor who adds real value via a well-developed skill set that blends innovative thinking and problem solving with a commercial focus, and meticulous planning.

Lead/Principal Consultant

Tony is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology as well as holding an IAM certificate in Asset Management and is Lloyds Register trained Auditor. He uses his extensive 40+ years’ experience to provide technical advice and support to his clients. Tony has undertaken many infrastructure audits of electrical networks to establish asset condition and associated risks. Tony is an expert in maintenance policies and practices and has assisted several clients to develop asset taxonomy systems.  Tony has also assisted clients undertaking visits  to manufacturer’s factories to assess equipment and witnessed factory assessment tests.

Senior Consultant, Net Zero Transition

Esther is a Senior Consultant in the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure team.  She is a Chartered Engineer with over a decade of experience in the power engineering sector, focusing on low carbon technologies such as electric vehicles and energy storage.  She has a particular interest in the integration of electric vehicles with the energy system.  Recent project experience includes acting as technical lead for Electric Nation : Electric Nation, a large trial of domestic smart charging which demonstrated how this technology can be used with high customer acceptability to manage increased demand on electricity networks relating to EV charging.  She is currently overseeing the integration of transport model data within the ConnectMore tool on the Charge project.  ConnectMore will allow stakeholders to understand demand for EV charging, and the available network capacity within a single tool, facilitating the roll-out of EV charging infrastructure.

 Esther is also actively involved in promoting STEM and engineering to a diverse audience, including recently completing a project with the Queen’s School in Chester, and presenting her work on Electric Nation to the LGBT STEMinar.
