EA Technology launches new UltraTEV® Plus 2 VPIS Sensor

EA Technology is proud to announce the launch of a new VPIS Adaptor for the UltraTEV® Plus² Partial Discharge (PD) detection instrument.

The UTP2-VPIS Voltage Presence Indicating System (VPIS) Sensor identifies Partial Discharge (PD) sources in Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear by connecting to the switchgear's integrated voltage detection unit. 

NOTE: UTP2-VPIS Sensor is not available in the USA at this time. Contact our Americas office for details.

The following types of voltage detection systems are supported:

- IEC 61958 / IEC 62271-206 Voltage Presence Indicating System (VPIS)
- IEC 61243-5 Voltage Detection System (VDS)
- IEC 62271-213 Voltage Detection and Indication System (VDIS)

The UTP2-VPIS provides a capacitive connection between the HV conductors in the switchgear to the UltraTEV Plus2. This allows PD to be detected within switchgear and cables. Internal PD, surface PD and corona can all be detected using the UTP2-VPIS.

When used with the UTP2, the viewing of distinct pulse groups relative to the power system frequency helps the user in determining the validity of any source detected.
